  1. Hi. I have two kits, read the PDF and viewed the tutorials prior to connecting everything. A few minutes after everything was hooked up the EMG PCB started smoking so I immediately removed power. I verified the battery connection was correct before hand and after the smoking. From your experience, what else could cause this? I'd like to find out before I hook up my last remaining EMG PCB. Thanks.

    1. This happens when you switch the polarity of the power pins. Make sure you're connecting your negative voltage to -Vs and the positive voltage to +Vs. Always verify the voltage with a multimeter prior to connecting it to the board. What are you using as your power supply?

  2. Thank you for your detailed response. I now understand that I made the polarity mistake with the batteries and am glad I purchased two PCBs!

On a side note, is it common to have to adjust the gain on the PCB, or is its default setting usually good the way it comes from the factory?

    1. The gain should be fine for most applications the way it is.

  4. can there be a difference of approx. 1 volt between +vs and -vs or do they have to be exactly same?

    1. They don't have to be exactly the same but the closer they are the better.
